Newly appointed SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins will deliver the keynote address at the regulator’s May 12 roundtable exploring asset tokenization. The event, titled "Tokenization: Moving Assets Onchain – Where TradFi and DeFi Meet," signals a potential shift toward balanced crypto regulation under Atkins’ leadership.
Atkins brings rare crypto expertise to the role, having served as SEC Commissioner during Bitcoin’s nascency (2002-2008). His return coincides with growing institutional demand for blockchain-based asset solutions. The roundtable will examine how tokenization transforms ownership structures and trading mechanisms across both traditional and decentralized finance.
